Architect Sandeep Khosla and Amaresh Anand’s design for a bungalow in an upscale gated community on the outskirts of Bengaluru is a true imprint of innovative, intelligent and fascinating architecture. The design for this residence derived its form from the basic needs of the client’s privacy and the basic tenets of Vaastu. It is here that Khosla Associates’ seminal architecture precisely fits in - an architecture that is tropical and responds to nature, speaks of large expanses, less barriers, large lung spaces and a lot of glass usage - an international immaculate style supported by fine detailing, minimalism and profound materials. With a built up area of 7500 sq. ft., this four bedroom house in an L shaped plan looks like a play of masses and voids from the exterior. White walls juxtaposed with distinctive exposed concrete slabs, a controlled hint of yellow ochre, wooden slats and glass generate a smart amalgamation of horizontal and vertical planes, maintaining privacy and simultaneously offering zones of visual delight. The compelling architectural composition of this home is strong enough to hold on its own and evoke the required emotions.
