When Farhan and Farya Lokhandwala were entrusted with the task of designing their parents’ home, they immersed themselves in the attainment of perfection. Soon into the design process, they were hit with the realisation that store-bought furniture would not give them the elegance they desired. With respect to designer furniture, the level of customisation fell short of what they wished for. Thus, Farhan decided to take matters into his own hands and started designing his own creations. Eeda Inc was born shortly after.
Initially, the studio dealt in amateur carpentry converting old wood into stylishly refurbished pieces. Soon, the desire for perfection led to the crafting of elegance. At Eeda Inc, the siblings bring together high quality and great style in an attempt to create highly customised pieces for each client. The duo is unwilling to compromise on time, and therefore, each design is a meticulously sculpted masterpiece. Their catalogue comprises a range of products made out of metal and quality teak wood.
A combination of old world rustic and modern day charm results in distinctive handmade products. ‘Wastelands’ is a side table made of a chunk of Tanzania teak wedged between unfinished mild steel L-angle legs finished in linseed oil. Another Tanzania teak side table is the ‘Black Gold’ in which the legs find expression in construction wires and a bit of camel leather. In the ‘Bohemia’ coffee table, teak logs are held together by U-angles and solid bolts. The piece is stained and sanded just enough to reveal the original colour of the grains. Another coffee table named ‘Raw’ with its broken and burnt effect can give an edgy and grunge look to any space. The team experiments with variations of teak, mild steel and brass, finished in linseed oil, matte water-based poly urethane, etc. to create stylised designs for each customer.
