Matharoo Associates’ exhibit at the Biennale Architettura 2018 draws inspiration from a house they are building in Chennai. Their intent is to showcase a sense of play, delight and engagement - these are key ingredients seen in many of their projects.
They work with the idea of letting go of function - then a wall could be something else, or a column could be something else. Liberated from this burden of function on a particular element what they aim for is delight.
Design Owl in association with Hafele through a web film series have captured some of the most intriguing exhibits showcased at The Biennale Architettura 2018 at Venice.
The Venice Biennale, an international architecture exhibition, is a showcase of work by leading architects and designers from across the world.
It is a platform where invited architects express their creativity and share ideas around a provocation or theme. With a different theme announced for each Biennale, the exhibition this year revolves around the theme ‘Free Space’. The word describes a generosity of spirit and a sense of humanity which is at the core of the work on display.
