Architect Sachin Agshikar displays an underlying foundation of respect for local community living in this bungalow in Chiplun. The unusual site dimensions of a long ribbon shaped plot with direct beach access needed to be turned into an asset, which is what inspired Sachin to maintain a visual link even while planning on self-contained sections of the home in a lengthwise rendition of connecting the outside with the inside and including lots of greenery in the courtyard and pocket garden areas besides putting up free-standing walls on the sides and façade to give a spacious feel to the narrow plot. The basic envelope of the house was kept white to accentuate the fresh green trees and natural sunlight that dances off the pristine walls giving off very interesting compositions, which change with the day wearing on. Its linear form due to the plot size actually gave Sachin the opportunity for including several built forms that he scattered effectively through the site, which enhance the sense of discovery a visitor can immediately embark on when moving through the pathways leading to the sea.
