Rakeshh Jeswaani Interior Architects has designed a sprawling 6000 sq ft duplex apartment in a high rise building in the plush South Mumbai area. Surrounded by lovely views of Mumbai, the apartment is home to four generations and it caters to the individual needs of all the family members.

The clients wanted a rich, open space, to maximize views. They were sure of the kind of materials they wanted used in the apartment.

The marble and furniture is sourced from Italy and the space is designed around that. All the furniture is mostly procured from various Italian brands and rich Italian marble is used for the flooring.

A stylish entrance beautified with wall mirrors from Natuzzi and flooring in silver beige Travertino marble leads one into the sprawling apartment. The lower floor comprises of the entrance lobby, kitchen, formal living room, family room and dining room, two master bedrooms, a powder room and a mandir.

The formal living space has a double height ceiling enhancing the openness of the space. The dining area stands out from the rest of the space with its black marble and silver detailing. A set of 15 paintings by artist Seema Kohli from Tao Art Gallery Mumbai break the monotony of the space. Each bathroom has its own unique style and features.

A Tavertino Moka marble staircase scattered with flower inlay takes one to the upper floor which has another master bedroom and den, the children’s bedroom, study and play area. The upper floor is more youthful as compared to the lower floor. The children’s room has a vibrant colour palette. The spaces here have been kept neutral and simple so that the clients can play around with the colours of the curtains and upholstery.

A lot of detailing has gone into the apartment and each space in the home is distinct.
