Combining traditional designs with Asian materials and contemporary features, principal architect Kunal Barve of Interface Architects creates a residence that radiates a perfect ethnic-modern blend in the western suburbs of Mumbai. The apartment is simple in design yet practical in approach and emits a feeling of warmth from the moment one enters. Using undulating walls, creative lighting, straight lined furniture, handmade papers and ethnic prints, Kunal designs a home which is not only graceful, but comfortable and pleasant for the family of three. Designed on one basic theme to create the impression of space as the house is relatively small, the designing team favoured each room with various small details in order to make them idiosyncratic and interesting.
