K. S. Associates worked on analogous client directives for their residential project for the Ajmera Builders in suburban Mumbai. Extending across an entire floor area of approx. 3800 sq. ft., the apartment follows a simple bifurcation of public and private areas – living-dining-guest room at one end and family quarters at the other of a transitional passage. However, the highlight of this high-end residence is its swish and avant-garde appearance. The client wanted a very modern, pristine and high-gloss look. Consequently, the home is conceptualised as predominantly white, with subtle and not-so-subtle sweeps of colour to induce character; while a material palette of Corian, coloured acrylic, and high-gloss laminated finishes cater to the opulent look. Recessed lighting that helps cast interesting pools of light coupled with soft undulating surfaces, especially devoid of bold straight lines, creates an aura of elegance and restraint.
