In the Kashyap residence, architects Sandeep Khosla and Amaresh Anand created the L-shaped orientation of the house along the north and western edges of the site, thus allowing for a large garden lung space on the south and east. The material palette uses predominantly local materials in an interesting mix – rough brown Andhra slate, Indian white Rajnagar marble, polished kota and rough stone provide for an earthy colour scheme and contrasting textures. Innovative detailing of structural elements such as roofs with interesting materials, modulation in scale and volume and contemporary amalgamations in form in this project exemplifies Khosla Associates’ constant dialogue with creative solutions.
