‘Pores 34’ is a sprawling duplex in New Delhi designed by An-V-Thot Architects Pvt. Ltd. to ac-commodate the specific needs of every family member, even as the home becomes a unified monument of elegance.
The residence is a 1st and 2nd floor duplex where the planning immediately had to deal with de-cluttering to bring in an open-plate structure.
As you enter the house, a giant white jaali wall greets you, acting as a partition between the dining and the lobby, traveling vertically to then become the first floor railing. This was made using wooden frames holding square laser cut MDF boards especially painted in white duco.
The living room has been created through a formal outlook, using dark wood and dark brown leather sofas; a few tall artefacts sit at the corners, 2 centre-tables are placed at hand’s reach along with green pockets.
Two original bedrooms were combined to become the master bedroom on this floor, the focal point of the bedroom is the courtyard with vertical garden all through one side of the room. The bedroom houses a private sit out area, a study, a walk-in dresser-cum-closet with a play of warm carpeted floor, hanging lights, etc., which leads to the private washroom finished with dark Em-perador Italian stone on the floor as well as the walls.
Behind the white jaali wall sits a 10-seater dining; here the table is a glowing square box of back-lit, laser-cut corian with glass on top protruding from all sides.
The colours in the kitchen are a mix of light and dark grey in overhead and under-counter storag-es; vibrancy is added at the backsplash using toughened lacquered blue glass. The kitchen also has a service balcony attached to it at the back.
The upper floor has a foyer with waiting, an extended newlyweds’ bedroom-cum-lounge with at-tached dress and washroom, a guest room with attached dress and washroom, a family lounge, a massage/meditation room, a multi-purpose room and a powder room. A central lobby here acts as a circulation space with a visual connect to the lower floor.
“A very important area of this floor was the newlywed’s bedroom, for their specific brief to create their room in a way so as to accommodate a complete home within a room, where they could ca-ter to their guests, work at their study, read at the library, enjoy newspaper with coffee at their lounge under the sun or enjoy a private sit-out at their terrace,” states the team from An-V-Thot Architects Pvt. Ltd. The guest room sits at the rear left corner of the floor.
The family lounge has been specifically kept dark with a relaxed feel to it. It is a rectangular room with half the portion raised by 6-inches, the front half houses 2 dark-leathered automatic recliners and the rear half has deep pushback sofas.
