In designing this contemporary home, Rajiv Saini probably decided to break the rules of design, combining the best of international design in terms of clean, straight lines and his trademark non-cluttered look, with an Indian sense of aesthetics. So if inlays are traditionally Indian and using it in furniture is de rigueur, he overturned the rules and used them on the walls, replacing a stockier marble generally used for inlays with the delicate mother-of-pearl, almost as if he was creating a piece of art.
Rajiv Saini, leading his team at Rajiv Saini & Associates, has employed the tenets of a cutting-edge, contemporary décor philosophy - where every little thing exists for a purpose, either functional or aesthetic – making this Mumbai home stand out remarkably well. The emphasis is on good living, on a certain amount of sophistication, on plush, refined, opulent interiors that are not loud or over-the-top.
