Anshul Chodha and his young team at Sanctuary design projects with a fresh ‘out of the box’ attitude. In the design of his own home in Bengaluru, Anshul faced the challenge of incorporating the needs of three generations. Organising the spaces around a C- shaped plan focusing on a central courtyard, each generation have been housed at different levels within the tight 50’ x 80’ site. Anshul has explored his penchant for minimalism through the play of volume, form, light and few walls within the house resulting in an airy, open and naturally lit and ventilated space. The interior design is a sort of fusion; minimalism forms the base on which elements representing other schools of thought come together. It is a modern, clean lined surface, with a skewed, curved wall on the façade that softens the otherwise linear proportions of the house, and gently twists the perspective of the observer. The overall essence of the house is an understated statement - simple, functional, contemporary and smart.
