Materials and textures adorn a bachelor’s studio apartment designed by Husna Rahman in Bangalore to create a modern opulent home. She redesigned the space into a living and dining space with an open kitchenette and a large bedroom suite beyond, separated visually by wooden panelling that runs as a backdrop in most parts of the studio. Playing with textures, the flooring in the house has been designed as a raised platform clad in dark auburn coloured Italian marble. Contrasting this are the recessed sides, adjacent to the walls which have been treated as elements of hard landscape in rough kota and small marble chips. On entry, one’s attention is drawn to the living room platform that has been under lit by rope lights which set the tone for the apartment to follow.
