The Morphing House

With this bungalow Signa Design manages to create a space that effortlessly shifts and moves, shrinks and grows and folds and unfolds with a wave of the homeowner’s hand. The photographer client works with constantly changing props and sets. To address this, architect Darshana Patel included a custom wall behind the sofa. It features slots where pictures may be accommodated and can also be switched to simple panels of leather, steel and glass when a different look is desired. Another interesting feature is the moving display wall panels on either side of the dining table. These panels move along castors to shrink and expand depending on requirement.
Predominant use of pristine white and openness of the layout instill warmth and serenity in the house, almost like they have been interwoven into its structure and design. Vibrant colours punctuate the monochromatic palette, bursting at just the right places to tug at your senses before the pure white once again takes over. The Zen like master bedroom with its contemporary faux leather bed is juxtaposed with the motif of a peacock feather etched in glass panels on the wardrobe.
