A consistent design language holds together a rich material and textural palette, and as a whole they create an abode that is contemporary and warmly welcoming in this apartment designed by Tao Architecture Pvt Ltd. Clutter free and contemporary quality of space with a combination of warm wooden surfaces, plain white walls and soft coloured furnishings was the design theme architect Manish Banker decided on for this apartment in Pune. The understated beauty of marble and wood becomes the backdrop for a minimalistic and swank decor in the double heighted living space. The designers worked to accentuate these volumetric dimensions through select interior composition of the tapestry, artefacts and a television console. One can see a subtle pattern in the warm marble flooring - while the lighter shade carpets maximum of floor space, the darker shades underscore the circulation path and thresholds, hatching interesting variations to the design. Unifying and embellishing the material-textural palette is the illumination. The concept of ‘strip lighting’ charts most of the consoles and shelves, subtly highlighting the linearity wherever called for.
