Inspired from the semantics of traditional architecture, both in its use and form, and instituted into a contemporary context, two architecture professionals – Aniket Bhagwat of M/s. Prabhakar B. Bhagwat from Ahmedabad and Samira Rathod of Samira Rathod Design Associates from Mumbai, have orchestrated a harmonic blend of traditional and modern sensibilities to create a beautiful home in Ahmedabad that defies nomenclature of any particular style or genre. Merging the traditional nuances with present-day post-modern sensibilities, the Jariwala house is situated on a vast plot of approx. 3000 sq. yards with a built-up area of approx. 7000 sq. feet on the ground and first floor levels. The house is a take-off from the generic exposed concrete or brick house and is a fusion of an avant-garde look and a characteristic cultural mix. The beauty of the home lies in the conceptual layering of spaces by both the professionals involved. While the house can be compartmentalised into individual spaces of interest and arrest, the overall impression is one of a delicate symphony of line, form and colour akin to a work of art, with a suggestive background and complimenting touches.
