Romi Khosla Design Studios, involved in creating the art studio space at the Art Gallery in Jamia University, named after controversial artist, M.F. Hussain, sought to bring in functional features into the traditional idea of a colonnade display space and opened out walkways to mean communication beyond words. Romi Khosla worked to make architectural principles accessible – and contemporary – but, with a classic touch, in the final phase of this project.
They concentrated thus on presenting a space that would also serve as an interactive art exhibition area creatively relevant to the adjacent community center cum canteen area. A neat package, one could say, for the classics to be appreciated alongside the current expressions, that also helped retain its student community’s need for a distinct cultural hub.
