A wee departure from the norm creates an inspired ambience in this corporate set up in Bangalore by partners Smruti Kamat and Lester Rozario of Kamat & Rozario Architecture. The challenge lay in striking a balance between being very creative, yet subdued, where the design would reflect the agency’s philosophy. ‘22feet’ is an independent digital agency that specializes in web and mobile designing, allowed the imaginative duo to carve out a volume ofexactly 22 feet within the office area, which would act as the creative badgering den. The work area is designed as open, continuous tables with corresponding open shelving. The entire atmosphere veers towards creating informal, common-use spaces that tend to naturally enhance casual dialogue amongst co-workers, maximising comfort levels that are inherent to productivity and cheerfulness in the work environment. Taking advantage of the neighbouring can manufacturing plant, the architects created an interactive ‘Can Wall’ with an ever-changeable interface. The cans, obtained from the waste next door, have been powder-coated to the desired colours and are held to the metallic white wall using concealed magnets.
