Dealing with law often means doing the fine act of balancing between transparency and privacy. Architect Tejal Mathur of Team Design has managed her client’s needs ably with a legal office at the heart of the city of Mumbai. Here, there were the working areas with glazed glass that provided the visual connect on one hand and sound proofed well-closeted conference rooms that provided necessary amount of discretion on the other. The client wanted the ‘contemporary’ to seep into the picture without making the design appear frivolous. Mathur discerned a middle path and created a design that was ‘edgy’ (appropriate enough for a law firm) without being ‘fun’.
