The imaginative use of mirror, glass and lens create erratic vistas of illusory perceptions at Magic, an elite and upbeat night club in Mumbai designed by Samira Rathod of Samira Rathod Design Associates. There are two distinct entrances to the lounge; one for the hoi polloi and the other for the members of Magic. Each of the entry points is anointed with a much-pregnant pause before the \'real thing\' is unveiled. Playing wholly on the principle of delusions, glass and mirror predominate in a simple and smart application. This 3,500 sq. ft. space with its industrial-feel shell, low windows and interlace of beams in the ceiling is treated with a rough-hewn ply flooring, and a calculated combination of black and white paint that nullifies the coved ceiling; simultaneously playing with the ambience in its simulation of bright and night sky.
