Renesa Architecture Design Interiors Studio’s plan for Instapizza transforms the constrained space into a two-levelled, youthful hub for food-lovers.

New Delhi-based Renesa Architecture Design Interiors Studio has added a new touch to an upcoming pizza chain in New Delhi called Instapizza. The concept of the design was to capture the relationship between those who love food and design.

Part of the concept germinated from considering the target audience of this chain - youngsters. The design philosophy had to capture the essence and freshness of youth. The process of pizza-making (an industrial chain effect in itself) was another inspiring factor that decided the final outcome of the design. The conveyor-belt process of pizza-making gets replicated in the ambiance of the Instapizza, located at the Good Earth City Centre in Gurgaon.

A pipeline light installation has been included in the interiors to guide the visitors to the various pocket-spaces. Painted in red and yellow, they remind you of tubes of ketchup and mustard. The rough-plastered brick walls have been kept simple and white to create an airy look inside the small space. Metal-framed chairs and simple wooden tables pepper the eatery.

Renesa Architecture Design Interiors Studio has carefully designed and crafted the furniture keeping in mind the essence of the concept. The slick curvy iron bars with the industrial wheel legs control the harmony of the space and add significance to the branding through the introduction of colours. Adding to the industrial look are the air ducts (silver corrugated pipes) that act like installation pieces at the site and provide a pause from the rough-plastered walls.

To accommodate the space constraints, the studio decided to make good use of the height of the volume and provide a mezzanine floor, dividing the outlet into 2 horizontal parts — a kitchen-entrance on the lower level, and seating area on the upper floor. The use of perforated industrial steel railing in certain areas allow natural and artificial light to dissipate through the spaces, as well as creating a sensation of an expanding area.

The outdoors feature glass decals designed to suit the brand strategy and the aim of attracting youth attention. The glass decals (stickers) create an interest about the inside spaces, in effect according a very welcoming look to the outlet. “The idea was not only to provide the customers with great pizza but also to provide them a youthful space to interact at. It was about finding that right blend of architecture and gastronomy for the user’s delight,” states the team from Renesa Architecture Design Interiors Studio.
