This project involved the redesigning of the seven-year old 5 Spice chain of restaurants, assigned to the firm Narayan & Associates Private Limited. It had to sport a young and fresh look with elegant touches of Chinese design that would appeal to Oriental cuisine aficionados of all ages.
Architect Narayan has ensured that the décor of the restaurant has a balanced modern touch, with tall leather sofas, and dark wood clad walls. Sleek, vinyl lamps lend a diffused lighting to the interiors. Subtle Oriental design elements such as Buddha faces run through the Mumbai restaurant. The tables are decked with restraint and the floors interestingly alternate between dark granite in the hallway and light marble in the indoor dining area.
Dark wood, stone clad walls, and black upholstered compact chairs characterise the warm outdoors. Ebano wood with slate tiles and ash wood frame this part of the restaurant giving it a rustic and earthy look. The overall effect of the restaurant is undoubtedly romantic.
