For the Ravage store within Bengaluru’s premier clothes designer store Ffolio, the challenge of intervention for Mathew & Ghosh Architects was of a different kind. The store-in-store concept required the architects Nisha Mathew-Ghosh, Soumitro Ghosh to provide an individual retail space of 350 sq. ft. for the bridal wear designers within an already existing visually busy fashion store. They had to negotiate the need to be restrained, to be high in quality of design expression as well as be opulent in the same breath! The ambience had to create the feeling of being special when choosing clothes for the wedding day. They ingeniously chose to make the display hanging boxes here in handmade paper which adds an elegant luminous tone to the rich hanging garments space. The rest of the store remains bare so that it does not distract and in turn helps highlight its design elements.
