Situated in an urban location, where scarcity of space and increase in real estate prices have become a global phenomenon , this project comprises of 6 units, designed as a conglomeration of two units and four row houses.

The client came up with an old residential bungalow to be demolished and come up with a residential typology he was unsure about .The exercise started with optimum usage of space with integration of light and series of courtyard, and an open plan which ensures maximum flexibility, making them visually transparent urban livable homes.

The series of interconnected terraces and courtyards filter in light and create interesting architectural voids and volumes , and also breaking the linearity of the space.

The project emphasizes to create a desirable place to live, that balances usable private space with high quality public space.

Founder Monarch Champaneri is the co-founder and principal of OpenIdeas, Ahmedabad. He received his Masters in Architecture from University of Illinois At Urbana Champaign, Illinois, USA . Prior to founding OI in 2009, Monarch worked with Murphy/Jahn Architects in Chicago,USA, Sebastian Wagner Architects Berlin, Germany and Burt Hill Inc. in Ahmedabad. His international experience and expertise in architecture and master planning has helped in shaping the firms philosophy and approach to architecture.

NILESH PATEL

Founder Nilesh Patel, is the co-founder and principal of OpenIdeas, Ahmedabad. He graduated with honors from Sarvajanik College of Engineering and Technology, Surat. Before embarking on OI, he worked with Apurva Amin Architects, Ahmedabad and Sebastian Wagner Architects in Berlin, Germany. Nilesh has tremendous knowledge and experience across complex typologies ranging from Residential, Commercial, Institutional to Industrial, and has contributed significantly to a number of successful projects for the firm.

NIRALEE CHAMPANERI

Founder Niralee Champaneri is co-founder and principal of OpenIdeas, Ahmedabad. She is trained in architecture at Sarvajanik College of Engineering and Technology, Surat and received her Masters in Architecture from Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, USA. Preceding OI, she has worked with Sebastian Wagner Architects Berlin, Germany and HCP Design PVT. LTD. Her strong interest is to bridge the gap between architecture and interior design. Apart from working on various architectural projects, she has significantly contributed in managing the firm’s identity.
